The common thread in the musical lives of each the Contenders is versatility. Jimbeau started out in blues and jazz while Steve, Tommy, Walter and Champ had already made their marks in diverse acoustic settings. Combining those varied sensibilities, filtering them through four very good songwriters and into the rock & roll format was the recipe for The Contenders’ sound.
